Subject: Exec Sql

Hello Friends,

I need to use an Exec Sql statement with a plex application, the SQL sentence is this:

insert into aa13t select * from aant where aara like '%B%'

This SQL Sentence work ok if I run this one from SQL Analizer but when I put this in a Plex Source Code this do not work. I found that the problem is with "Like" expression. If I put the sentence without like '%B%' work fine.

The question is how could I use the like expression with a Plex source code to do what I want? Any help will be very appreciate.

Subject: % confusion

Borys,

Change your SQL statement to the following:

insert into aa13t select * from aant where aara like '%%%B%%%'

With your original source, the % character is interpreted as a format specifier, but there are no other parameters to substitute so the sql that gets executed is just insert into aa13t select * from aant where aara like ''. So that the % character is interpreted as such, the function requires two % characters, i.e. %%. So why have I told you to change it to %%%? Well, the generator interprets a single % sa being part of a format specifier in a message and so leaves it as it is, but interprets %% as if you want a single % character and so replaces it in the source code, which then gets interpreted as a format specifier in the run time... by specifying %%% (or even %%%%), we ensure that the runtime gets passed %%
